Target Corporation
(NYSE: TGT), originally known as the Dayton Dry Goods Co., is a retailing company that was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1902. In 1962, the first Target store was opened in Roseville, Minnesota. It is the sixth-largest retailer (by sales revenue) in the United States and is ranked 30th on the 2006 Fortune 500. It sells more gift cards than any other U.S. retailer and is the fifth-largest U.S. seller of music. Target operates its retailing business exclusively in the United States. Target was listed in the Top 500 largest e-retailers Guide by Internet Retailer in 2007.
